the Mission Groups here at YVV.
Terry’s Tucker
A free meal at YVVCF -
Wednesdays at 6.00pm. This is one way we can serve our community and is
particularly aimed at people who are in need.
Breakfast Club
There are teams who go to Lilydale High School every
Tuesday and Thursday mornings to provide breakfast for students in need, as well
as building relationships amongst them.
Prayer Ministry
At YVV we offer
appointment-based prayer ministry during the week to give opportunity to pray
and talk through life issues that require more time and privacy than the usual
ministry time on Sunday.
Food and Bread
YVVCF has occasional
supplies of bread and casseroles available for people who are in need. This is
to help both people in our local community as well as those in need in our own
church.
Christmas Gift Distribution
Since Christmas 1997, we have had the opportunity to be the
distribution point of Christmas Gifts for this area. All gifts that are donated
at K-Mart, etc. are brought to YVVCF where we set up appointments with families
in need who have been referred by Anglicare and other welfare agencies. In 2007,
over 200 families and more than 500 children received gifts at YVVCF.
Christmas Day Programme
A Christmas Lunch is put
on for anyone in the church or the community who otherwise may spend Christmas
alone. Other activities are also included to make it a great event.
Life Groups - helping us live life...to the max!
Some groups are special
interest, and some are recreational. Some groups are for training in life and/or
ministry and some are to nurture people in their Christian walk. The common
factor in all of our Life Groups is that people are meeting to build
relationships.
Home Groups are the Life Groups that are very intentional
about nurturing people in their Christian walk. For more information, speak to
Rob Carter (tel: 9739 7945).
Alpha (an
Equipping/Training Life Group)
Alpha is a group aimed at those who are wanting to find out
more about God and who He is, or for those who are new Christians. It is a 10
week course, although each course is adapted according to the needs of the
participants in terms of times to meet and length of course.
LifeKeys Courses (an
Equipping/Training Life Group)
Each year YVV offer a range of ten week LifeKeys courses
including "Search for Life", "Woman to Woman" and "Man to Man". These courses
were designed by Care Force, Mt. Evelyn and have proven very effective in
assisting people deal with common life issues such as self-image, identity,
self-worth, relationships, dysfunction in families, loss and grief. We have a
group of trained facilitators assisting in the group-work part of these courses.
Teaching
Equipping those who know Jesus for His ministry is one of our
core values at YVVCF and, so, we have training opportunities throughout the year
for people who are wanting to be equipped in Kingdom values for ministry and for
life.
